Plastic Free Skipton is a local group that wants to reach out to the wider community, encouraging everyone to change our plastic habits and reduce our plastic consumption.

We are working with Skipton Town Council, local businesses, community groups and schools to tackle the problem of plastic and try to solve it at its source.

The main problem is single-use plastic items such as take-away cups, crisps and confectionery wrappers, water bottles, straws and all kinds of packaging. Plastic is an amazing invention which defies nature by never decomposing. It’s therefore total madness to use it to make products that we use only once then throw away!

Finding plastic-free alternatives isn’t always easy, but it’s important we do what we can. As we develop this website, we’ll be adding links to events, cafes, shops and life hacks to help us rid our world of disposable plastic. If plastic litter is on our streets today, it’s in our rivers tomorrow and in our oceans for ever.
